First stop: Saving Turtles in Costa Rica

Because they are cute and endangered

80 °F

Writing this post in advance because once Tim and I arrive in San Jose on Wednesday morning we have less than 24 hours there before we take a bus and boat to our next destination - La Tortuga Feliz - www.latortugafeliz.com - where we will stay for 7 nights at the mouth of the Rio Pacuare on the Caribbean coast just north of Puerto Limón. We are volunteering turtle conservationists!

The organization's mission is to protect the sea turtles and their eggs that are at risk because of poachers in the area. We do night patrols each night in 4 hours shifts. No electricity means we will not be able to call or email while we are there...so we thought it best to give you the heads up!

Final prep for our 90 day trip!

65 °F

Hola Familia y Amigos!!!
In case you didn't know, Tim and I were bitten by the travel bug, yet again, and we are off!!! This time we are headed to Central and South America for 90 days of traveling, volunteering, beaching, eating, and enjoying life! Our trip will take us to Costa Rica, Peru, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, and jaunts into Chile (Patagonia). We are extremely fortunate to be able to take such an awesome trip and we wish we could take you all along...this blog will be our best way to do that.
We have just over 24 hours before we actually take off (2:30am flight out of LAX), and we have lots to do. We loved seeing many of you over the past couple weeks and we cannot wait to see all of you at Christmas!
Hope you enjoy the posts to come!
Salud!
Kate & Tim
